Bylaws

Bylaws are laws created by the City. They are enforced by Bylaw Enforcement Officers, Peace Officers, and Development Officers. Bylaws in Alberta are generally created under the authority of the Municipal Government Act.

To pass a bylaw, Council must give three readings (three separate approvals) at Council meetings. The public is encouraged to provide input into this process.

Council Policies

Council Policies provide overarching standards for decision making and operations within local government. They help the City operate consistently.

Council Policies are approved by Council.

Administrative Policies

PAdministrative Policies are a statement of intent from Administration that provides information or direction to citizens and staff. They help the City operate consistently.

Administrative Policies are approved by the Chief Administrative Officer.
