Arts & Culture
Culture and heritage preservation are distinguishing and important features of the City of Lacombe. Three museums are within walking distance of each other in the downtown core; the Flatiron Museum and Interpretive Centre, Michener House Museum, and the only fully functional Blacksmith Shop in Alberta.
The downtown alleys and other locations in the community are home to outdoor murals and sculptures while the Lacombe Memorial Centre (LMC) and City Hall house artwork from the City’s public art collection. The LMC features various artist exhibitions and a display of artwork created by the Lacombe Art Guild.
Lacombe is home to creative guilds, community choirs and bands, dance and art studios, theatre groups, and has produced musicians and performing professionals living around the globe! Burman University hosts speaker series, Sunday at 4 Concerts, and other fine events.
The Lacombe Performing Arts Centre (LPAC) is a hub of creativity, with events and classes taking place daily. The centre has two art galleries, one on the main floor, and the student gallery in the lower studio area. LPAC’s famous Music in the Park runs June to September and the Under $100 Art Market is hosted each November during Light Up Lacombe. Both events are held at the Lacombe Memorial Centre.
