Board Member Biographies

Dean Dyck
Chair
|
Dean is currently a Project Manager with the Agriculture Financial
Services Corporation (AFSC) in Lacombe. AFSC provides alternative
financing to small businesses in Alberta in addition to managing risk
through a wide array of provincial and federal grant programs within
the agriculture sector. Dean's responsibilities include researching new
and existing risk management programs that will benefit Alberta's
agricultural producers.
Dean was raised on the family farm near Borden, Saskatchewan. He
graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Economics. He has
over 25 years of experience in farm business management in the public
sector with the Saskatchewan and Alberta governments.
He has been active with a number of organizations, including serving on
the executive of the Red Deer Branch of Alberta Institute of
Agrologists, as Treasurer of the Alberta Agricultural Economics
Association and as the audio/video coordinator of St. Andrew's United
Church in Lacombe.
Dean has two wonderful daughters and makes his home in Lacombe, Alberta.

Audrey Herman
Vice Chair

With
over 25 years of experience within the educational sector, Audrey
Herman is the proud Principal and Owner of The First Step Educational
Centre in Lacombe.
The
First Step was founded in order to provide educational alternatives to
young adults that wish to complete their high school programs.
Audrey's passion for education has been an integral force behind the
Board's efforts to expand available post-secondary programming in
Lacombe. Audrey was also very influenctial in discussions leading to
the establishment of Lacombe's first full service employment centre.

Doug Maas
Citizen at Large

Doug joined the Board in 2004, and recently served two years as Chair. He is a true community activist as he is involved in numerous other organizations in Lacombe. Doug is past president of the Lacombe Regional Tourism and Marketing Association and is still a director with that group.
Mr. Maas serves as an agricultural banking specialist with Community Savings and has over 31 years experience in the financial industry. He has lived in LAcombe for 11 years with spouse Laurie and their children, Kelsie and Kyle. The family members are also volunteers in the community.
Doug's goals include expanding the hospitality industry in Lacombe and engaging more residents in community dialogue and volunteering.

Clint Reeves
Director

Clint is the driving force behind Dundee Securities, Lacombe brokerage where he works closely with clients to match their investment needs. He was 2001 recipient of the gold medal award for the highest mark amongst writer's of the Canadian Securities Course. Award of Excellence for the Professional Financial Planner's Course.
In the community, he is an active member of the Rotary Club of Lacombe and the Free Masons.
Clint is the only resident stock broker in Lacombe. He, his wife and three children are happy to call Lacombe home.

Peter Bouwsema

Peter and his wife, Lorraine have been living in Lacombe since 1984 moving in from Red Deer and prior to that from Calgary. They have raised three sons, two of whom are married.
In 1990, Peter started a small company here in Lacombe providing drafting services for new home construction as well as for some commercial and institutional buildings. They moved into the new "old train station" in 2007 and have since then increased their staff to six people.
Lacombe has been, is and will be vibrant desirable community to live and work in and they are very pleased to be a part of it.

Darren Gagnon

Darren was appointed to the Board in 2007 as the representative from the Lacombe & District Chamber of Commerce, where he serves as the 2nd Vice President.
He is a strong supporter of the community of Lacombe and he is involved in other volunteer & business organizations in Lacombe. He realizes the opportunities Lacombe has to prosper in the next few years.
Darren Gagnon is the General Manager of Lacombe Ford Sales Ltd. He has been in the Automotive Industry for 13 years was in the accounting field before that.
Darren and his wife Tammy have been in Lacombe since 2005, and Tammy lived in Lacombe as a Child. They have 4 children at home, and appreciate the value the lifestyle that Lacombe can provide. Tammy is also a volunteer in town.
Darren hopes to encourage more Lacombians to get involved and support Lacombe and community to provide greater opportunities for a more prosperous lifestyle for all local citizens.

Mayor Judy Gordon
|
Economic development is familiar territory for Mayor Gordon. She began her career in public office in the 1980s as a Member of Town Council, where she was instrumental in the formation of the Lacombe Economic Development Board in 1987 and acting Lacombe's Mayor from 1989 to 1995.
She also served as the MLA for the region, returning once again to municipal office as Mayor in 2004.
Since coming to Lacombe in 1968, she has been deeply involved with service clubs and community activities, and is currently a strong advocate and supporter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

Wayne Rempel
|
Wayne
has lived in Lacombe since 1999 when he moved here and purchased JP's
(Just Pizza 2 for 1) Wayne is marred to Carmell and has one married
daughter and one daughter in JR high. Wayne has been involved in a
number of community organizations including The Chamber of Commerce
where he served on the board and also as president, Youth for Christ
the Youth council and a number of church boards.
Wayne was elected to
Town council in 2007 and sits on seven committees and boards. Wayne and
Carmell also opened up The Movie Depot in the English Estates Centre in
June of 2007.
