Michener Recreation Area Campgrounds

General Campground Information and Fees

The Michener Recreation Area Campgrounds are located just off Highway 12, on the west end of Lacombe, south of the Petro Canada and conveniently located by the Soccer Pitches and Michener Ball Diamonds. The Lacombe Golf & Country Club is also located directly north of this area. 

 

Sites are available on a "first come-first served" (no reservations) basis from May 1st to October 31st, yearly. Registrations for the upper campground (serviced sites) are taken by the on-site caretaker. Self registrations are in effect for the lower campground (non-serviced sites). See kiosk located at the entrance to the camping area.

Daily camping rate in UPPER Michener is $20.00 per unit Monthly Rate $540.00 (Prepaid)


Facilities at the LOWER campground, located behind and below the Chamber of Commerce Office/Tourist Information building are as follows:

  • fire pits (firewood available)
  • day use area
  • washrooms are located in the Chamber of Commerce

 

Daily camping rate in LOWER Michener is $15.00 per unit Monthly Rate $405.00 (Prepaid)

The Chamber of Commerce office and Tourist Information building is located at the entrance of the lower campground. Shower facilities and washrooms are located at the new campground located at the south end of the Michener Recreation Area. The entrance to the upper campground is located straight south of the Petro-Canada gas station. 

 

Les Walker Rotary Park Group Camping and Group Day Use

This Group Camping/Group Day use area is located south of the campground in the Michener Recreation Area on the south half of the pond site. The camping area is available to groups with 15 or more camping units, and includes the use of the gazebo and it's camp stove.

Campers have access to the washrooms and shower facilities in the upper campground. Advance notice of 14 days is required as well as prepayment.

Wind screens for the gazebo are available for rent for $25.00. The group is responsible for installing the wind screens and returning them to the Recreation Services Office following the event. In the event the group requests Town staff to install or remove the wind screens the cost will be an additional $25.00. A request for the wind screens must be made at least seven (7) days prior to the group rental.

* Weekend is defined as :

a) Friday, Saturday and Sunday (2 nights) or
b) Saturday, Sunday, Monday (2 nights)
