General Information

  • The cemetery is open to the public seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Please contact our office for gravesite locations.

  • The Town or its employees shall not be responsible for any injury resulting to any person who enters the cemetery or for any damage to any plot, memorial tablet, monument or other structure located within the cemetery, unless such injury or damage is shown to be caused by the negligence of the Town or its employees.


Burials

 

  • Funeral directors must have all orders for interments signed by the owner of the plot in which such interment is to be made, or by a legal representative of such an owner.

  • No burial shall be permitted within the cemetery unless a proper burial permit is produced by the party applying for the burial.  Between the month of May and October inclusive in any year, all applications for burials shall be made to the Town Office at least 48 consecutive hours before the time for interment.

  • Overtime charges will be incurred for opening and closing of graves after normal working hours Monday through Friday, and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

 

Purchase of Plots

 

  • All records are kept in the Town Office and are available free of charge during normal office hours. All plots are sold out of the Town Office whether purchased at the time of need or pre-purchased. Plots shall not be resold to any other party, however plots may be transferred from one family member to another family member but no transfer shall be valid unless such transfer is duly registered with the Chief Administrative Officer.

  • Whenever a plot is held by two or more persons, an order for interment in such plot or any part thereof will be accepted by the Chief Administrative Officer from any one of the said persons or their personal representative.


Plantings

 

No person shall

  • erect, plant or maintain borders, fences, railings, walls, copings, hedges in or around any plot.

  • plant any woody or flowering ornamentals without the consent and supervision of the Parks Department.

The Town may remove any object erected, maintained, planted  or placed in the cemetery contrary to the above provisions.


Field of Honour

 

  • The Town of Lacombe maintains a Field of Honor for the burial of service and ex-servicemen and women of the Naval, Military, Air and Auxiliary Forces.

  • Appropriate identification may be requested.


Monuments

 

  • No monuments shall be erected in the cemetery until the design, description, and materials thereof have been approved by the Chief Administrative Officer and a permit for the erection of such a monument is issued.

  • All foundations or monuments shall be confined within the boundaries of the respective plots. All foundations for erecting of monuments shall be level, flush with the ground and be made of concrete. All persons erecting monuments shall insure that such monuments are firmly secured to the foundation and that the foundation is adequate to carry the monument.

  • Stone slab covers over graves are prohibited.

  • No monuments shall be erected from November 1st until the end of April following.


Future Plans

 

  • Currently work is progressing on a searchable database which will allow searching via the internet of the entire cemetery. When complete, this site will accommodate genealogical searches as well as enable visitors to the Town of Lacombe website to search for interred or cremated relatives or friends. In the near future, plots available for sale will also be listed along with maps showing exact locations.
