PUBLIC NOTICE: Effective May 19, 2020, City Hall and the Public Works Building will be open to the public. Our new operating hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Please note that all required precautionary measures will be in place, including limiting numbers of people attending the building to ensure we can safely observe physical distancing guidelines. The Gary Moe Sportsplex, Kinsmen Aquatic Centre, and Lacombe Memorial Centre are still closed to the public at this time.
The City of Lacombe is advising residents that the annual fall weed control spraying program will take place from September 2-8, 2019, weather dependent.
The City's contractor, TurfPro, will conduct a turf herbicide spraying regimen to control nuisance weeds such as dandelions on boulevards, sports fields, cemetery, municipal parks and green spaces around the city. Applications will be timed for days with weather warmer than 15 degrees Celsius to ensure optimal herbicide efficacy.
All herbicide applications will be in strict accordance with all regulations established by Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resources. All areas sprayed will be marked with signs that say “TurfPro”. Please keep pets and children off treated areas until the signs are removed.
Registered day-cares and the play equipment areas on City playgrounds will be given an additional 30 metre herbicide-free buffer zone around them. This also includes open bodies of water - per city and Alberta Environment policy. Sports fields will be done early morning to avoid conflict with the general public.
The City’s Community Services Division is committed to environmentally responsible weed control practices. For more information regarding the City's annual spraying program, please call (403)782-6666.
