PUBLIC NOTICE | Wildlife Awareness
As the days get shorter, and snow makes finding food more difficult, many animals are expanding their normal foraging areas.
If you are using our trails and natural areas, please watch for wildlife, including birds, rodents, deer, and coyotes.
Coyotes are usually wary of humans and avoid people whenever possible. Aggressive behaviours towards people is unusual for coyotes, but people should always exercise caution around wildlife.
Although they are within city limits, these animals are wild, and should be treated accordingly.
Please do not approach, feed, or harass the animals sharing our urban forests – they may become frightened, and unpredictable.
Always keep children within eyesight, and please keep your pets leashed at all times, as required by the Dog Control Bylaw.
