New ECHO Lacombe Association ready to support local community initiatives
Lacombe, Alberta (April 26, 2016) – The ECHO Lacombe Association, a newly formed community economic development organization, is ready to receive applications for the first of its ECHO Lacombe Fund community grants.
“We seek to support individuals or groups looking to do work that benefit our community,” said ECHO Lacombe Association President Drayton Bussiere. “It is important for us to find ways to collaborate with and enhance the capacity of those who want to deliver new programs and services, or complement existing initiatives in a positive way.”
“The ECHO Lacombe Fund community grants are made possible by the proceeds received from the community-focused ECHO Energy utility, and are the culmination of a lot of hard work on the part our association members and City Council,” said President Bussiere. “Some in the community have been wondering when they would see those profits at work in the community, and today we are proud and excited to show everyone the potential that ECHO Energy initiative and ECHO Lacombe Association have.”
The association welcomes requests for a wide range of projects and programs within Lacombe including, but not limited to:
- Seed grants: funding to help launch a new project, program or initiative
- Equipment grants: funding for equipment, repairs and renovation
- Project/program grants: funding for a specific and/or recurring initiative with specific objectives; and a predetermined cost
The ECHO Lacombe Association is comprised of representatives from the City of Lacombe, Burman University and the Lacombe and District Chamber of Commerce, as well as an additional five members from the community at large. The group seeks to improve the quality of life within Lacombe by fostering a collaborative environment focused on cultivating innovation, nurturing a business-friendly culture, promoting sustainable growth and creating a safe, inclusive, vibrant and healthy community.
